TMS therapy is a non-drug, FDA-cleared treatment option for depression, particularly for individuals who have not responded adequately to medication.
TMS uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. Treatment is non-invasive and performed at our clinic.
During a TMS session, you’ll sit comfortably in a chair while gentle magnetic pulses are delivered to specific areas of the scalp. When intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) is used, appointments typically take less than 20 minutes from start to finish, with the stimulation itself lasting just over 3 minutes.
TMS is generally well tolerated. Some patients experience mild scalp discomfort or temporary headaches, especially early in treatment.

Patients value our focused approach to TMS, convenient location, individualized care, and experienced clinical team.
TMS is FDA-cleared for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder. Ongoing research is exploring its potential role in other conditions. In some patients, additional symptoms may improve while using standard depression treatment protocols, but these outcomes vary and are not guaranteed. Eligibility and treatment planning are determined during a comprehensive clinical evaluation.
Before starting treatment, we’ll review expectations, scheduling, potential side effects, and whether TMS aligns with your treatment goals.
TMS therapy is typically scheduled multiple times per week over several weeks. Many treatment protocols involve sessions five days per week for approximately four to six weeks, though frequency and duration may vary based on individual clinical needs and response to treatment.
At Motiva Health, treatment schedules are individualized. Many patients receive up to four sessions per week, with the total number of treatments commonly ranging up to 36 sessions, or until treatment response has stabilized. Your provider will review the recommended schedule during your evaluation.
